Prioritizing health and comfort with building science

Shape’s sustainable architecture solutions vary from passive house certification and net-zero goals to renovations and utilizing local materials or projects that create a better future for communities. We believe buildings should be healthier and more comfortable to inhabit, consume less energy, and respond better to the surrounding local community and climate. Our designs are highly contextual, work in harmony with the natural environment, and are beautifully resilient. We collaborate with clients and communities and strive to create inclusive spaces for everyone.

Creating Positive Change

We believe in harnessing the power of design to shape positive change by taking a balanced approach to design. We focus our experience and energy to promote positive change for:

  • building occupants through increased health and comfort

  • our communities through inclusive, interactive and educational spaces

  • our planet by reducing energy needs, improving energy efficiency and reducing our built environments carbon footprint

Collaboration

We create positive change through collaboration. We work with a diverse group of consultants from across the region that are helping us shape the buildings of tomorrow. However, collaboration always begins (and ends) with our clients that come to us with a desire to create positive change through design.

What Makes A Passive House Design?

Passive House design standards are the most rigorous, high-performance energy efficiency building standards worldwide. Passive House certified buildings of all scales yield unparalleled comfort and health, maximum durability, and the lowest energy use of any building approach in practice today. We have created certified passive house designs for residential and commercial projects, through both the international governing body Passive House International (PHI), and Passive House of the U.S. (PHIUS).
